International Standards And Certification Requirements for Plant Growth Lamps
As an important equipment for modern agricultural production, plant growth lamps have increasingly stringent international standards and certification requirements.
1. IEC 60598-1 safety standards in CB certification
The CB certification system is a multilateral certification and mutual recognition system established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Electrical Products Conformity Testing and Certification Organization (IECEE). IEC 60598-1 is a general safety standard for lamps and lanterns, applicable to tungsten filament lamps, tubes and other lamps with a power supply voltage not exceeding 1000 V. The standard covers electrical safety, mechanical structure, fire resistance, optical performance and other aspects to ensure the safety and reliability of lamps in use.
When applying for CB certification for plant growth lamps, it is necessary to prepare product technical documents, including product specifications, circuit diagrams, parts lists, instruction manuals, etc., and submit samples to the certification body for testing. Test items may include electrical strength tests, temperature rise tests, durability tests, etc. Through these tests, it can be verified whether the plant growth lamp meets the safety requirements of IEC 60598-1. Plant growth lamps that have obtained CB certificates not only enhance the competitiveness of products in the international market, but also help to open up overseas markets and reduce the cost and time of repeated testing in different countries.
2. IEC 61000-3-2 harmonic test
The IEC 61000-3-2 standard specifies the harmonic current emission limits of electrical equipment and is applicable to electrical equipment with a rated current of ≤16 A/phase and a rated voltage of ≤1000 V. Plant growth lamps will generate harmonic currents during operation. If the harmonic content is too high, it will pollute the power grid and affect the normal operation of other electrical equipment. Therefore, plant growth lamps need to undergo IEC 61000-3-2 harmonic testing to ensure that their harmonic current emissions are within the specified limits, reduce harmonic pollution to the power grid, and ensure the stable operation of the power grid.
3. Other related standards and certification requirements
UL8800 certification
UL8800 is a standard developed by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) of the United States for horticultural lighting systems, including plant growth lamps. This standard not only covers the safety requirements of lamps, but also stipulates photobiological safety, UV resistance of plastic shells, etc. For example, the product needs to evaluate photobiological safety, the test band is 280nm-1400nm, the test distance is 20cm, and the result requirements are RG0/RG1/RG2 acceptable, and RG3 unacceptable.
CQC Certification
The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) also has strict certification requirements for plant growth lamps, including safety performance, electromagnetic compatibility performance, photobiological safety, etc. Lamps should comply with relevant safety standards such as GB7000.1, their input current harmonics should comply with the provisions of GB17625.1, the radio disturbance characteristics should comply with the provisions of GB/T17743, and the electromagnetic compatibility immunity should comply with the provisions of GB/T18595.
EU CE Certification
The EU's CE certification requirements for plant growth lamps mainly include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and low voltage directive (LVD). Products must comply with relevant EMC standards and LVD directives to ensure safety and reliability in the EU market.
The international standards and certification requirements for plant growth lights cover safety, performance, electromagnetic compatibility and other aspects. Enterprises need to ensure that their products comply with the requirements of standards such as IEC 60598-1 and IEC 61000-3-2, and pass relevant certifications such as CB certification, UL8800 certification, and CQC certification to enhance the market competitiveness of their products and smoothly enter the international market. At the same time, these standards and certification requirements are constantly being updated and improved. Enterprises should pay close attention to changes in standards and adjust product design and production processes in a timely manner to meet market demand.
